Spring

Well we have been doing our best to make the most of the nice spring weather. The dogs are loving being outside and generally don't want to come in until later on. We have managed to get the grass in the garden cut and today we did the paddock and got some general tidying up and weeding done. I had thought about getting the swimming pool out but I think it's meant to get a bit cooler over the next few days so I have decided to leave it a little bit longer.

We haven't managed to get to training for the past couple of weeks, just too much on really but after this weekend I have 10 days off so I plan to do some with them all then.

We got the caravan out of the barn today so I can give it a clean up as I planned to use it one last time for High Peak show in May before getting a new one at the end of May but it looks like we may have to resort to the tent for that show now as the caravan is really on its last legs, we found a big crack in the floor of the front compartment where the gas bottles go so I really can't risk towing it all that way and something happening :( Still its only one show and if it forecasts rain we will just have to travel daily instead.

We have one last weekend off now (although I'm working) and then we have 2 shows over Easter, I can't wait :)

Sport Relief Swim 2012

This weekend was our swim for Sport Relief. Our aim was to complete 140 miles in 12 hours, overnight. After the first 45 mins we were 108 lengths behind target so we were a little bit worried that we wouldn't make it as that was a lot to be behind so early on. We all put in as much effort as we could and quickly became ahead of target and managed to actually do 144 miles in 9 hrs and 45 mins which is a massive 9,218 lengths! I think the thought of being able to finish early was what kept us going throughout the early hours of the morning, swimming all night is not easy! I think almost everyone managed to stay awake for the whole night but I soon fell asleep when I got home, not for long though as I was back at work yesterday afternoon for what felt like the longest shift in the world. Thankfully i've now got 2 days off to recover.

The picture is one of us all after the swim including the helpers who came to count lengths and provide us with food and drinks and general support. We had so many members of the public come to see us all start off too which was great.

Although we have now completed the swim we are still looking for donations so anyone wishing to donate to sport relief can do so at:

BCC of GB

Yesterday turned out to be a really nice day. After we arrived and the show was like a mud bath it did brighten up.

Heidi was a very good girl yesterday, infact I think its got to be the first time she has done a show and not had any E's! She got 10 faults in every class, a pole and missed weave entry in 1, a refusal and came out of the weaves in another and 2 poles in the last class. She was a very good girl though and listened and worked well. I hope it continues!

The less said about Kody's agility runs the better I think, his jumping wasn't too bad though, a pole in the tricky bit at the start and I sent him over the wrong jump towards the end. I guess I wasn't expecting great things for the first show of the year.

We got to catch up faces that we haven't seen over the winter though and generally had a really good day. Heidi got to play with her Mali cousins Reno and Speedy too. So thats our first one down, many more to go :)

Nearly That Time Again!

This weekend will be the start of the Agility season for us, we are off to BCC of GB on Sunday. I think I'm looking forward to it, its the start of shows again so it means winter is over and summer is on its way, yay! (and it will give us something more exciting to blog about!)

We have worked hard over the winter, re training Heidi's weaves and working hard on her contacts which are now the best I think they have ever been. Kody is running much better now too with me, I just hope I don't confuse him too much in the ring. After this show we have a couple of weeks off until Easter to resolve any issues we may have.

Last weekend we went to Crufts to support the Mali's and to do some shopping for our dogs. They all got new collars, Heidi had a harmess and Cani-X belt (for me really) and we have been out running this week, (I still can't walk now, my legs hurt soo much!!!) but I'm sure it will get easier. We stocked up on wormer and frontline and Yumove for Brian too and they all got new covers for their beds.

One massive well done goes to Jackie and Speedy who won their class, he really is a handsome boy and we are proud to be his godparents!!! :)
