Packington Show

This was not one of my favourite shows of the year, I hadn't been before I very much doubt i'd go again. The exercise area was tiny with loads of out of control dogs running round and owners throwing toys about. We had stayed at mums so the dogs had been for a walk before we got there so thankfully I didn't have to try and walk them there!

Heidi was mental yesterday which I don't think helped, we ran 3 agility classes, in 2 she just wasn't interested in weaving, just doing a couple and then onto the next obstacle and generally not listening. She did get moaned at and her last agility was much better, just taking 2 poles. I had entered her into jumping but there was still a good 300 dogs to run and as it was so hot we decided to call it a day and went back to my mums.

You might wonder whats happened to Kody lately, well nothing actually, I'm just not running him for a while. We were starting to have issues with both of our confidence so we are working on some things at home and I hope to run him again later on in the season. Conor will be running Heidi again from July meaning ill only have Kody to concentrate on so he will get my full attention and we can get running again.

Today the dogs have been to hydro and were all quite keen to go and cool off I think. I left them still quite wet so by the time we got home they were nice and cool and they have wondered around the garden with me all evening while I have finished off the gardening and watered all the vegetables. I now have 2 vegetable beds with potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips, green beans, spring onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries and have just put out some lettuce, beetroot and broccoli and still have some cabbage seeds to get going. The only problem I have is I keep finding Brian asleep amongst them all!

Heidi's High Peak High

We have had a fantastic weekend at High Peak show. It was one of my favourites last year but this year topped it for sure!

The best bit first, Heidi won Grade 3 Agility yesterday making her now Grade 4!!!!

It felt like a really great achievement with her as up until this year we struggled with any kind of consistency with her, she was very much all or nothing but this year she has been very close to an agility win a few times usually taking 1 pole but having the fastest time. I was so pleased with her though, she couldn't have gone quicker or turned tighter and she won by 2.5 seconds. She has of course been spoiled with new toys and treats. Such a good girlie.

Today her runs were not so good, a bit wild at times although her agility this morning wasn't too bad, a pole and a missed weave entry as I got in the way. She ran in the Chase the Ace Team event with her Bonvivant buddies Jackie and Speedy, Natalie and Reno and Paul and Tiber. They all ran their rounds clear, unfortunately Heidi did take 2 poles but we still finished 3rd out of 18 teams which was fab! So we have been greedy this weekend and bought home 2 trophies!!!

Beacon Show

We haven't been to many shows since Lincoln. We were meant to go to the East Anglian Border Collie show on bank holiday Monday but my alarm didn't go off in time and by the time I had woken up we would have ended up missing several courses so ended up staying home for the day.

Last Sunday we went to Beacon show, I hadn't been there before as its a long way from here but as its only 15 miles from my mums we stayed there instead. I only had Heidi running and she had 3 agility classes. She ran very well all day again, I'm so pleased with her, 2 poles in one class and a missed A-Frame contact in another. There last class went a bit wrong, she came out of the flat tunnel and took my legs from under me so I ended up on the floor! Whoops :)

We haven't been able to do any training at home for ages. We had so much rain through April it was just too wet and 3 weeks ago I sent our mower for a service but it needed other work so its not due back until the end of the week and the grass is now far too long to train on! Hopefully we will get it sorted soon and be able to train here again.

This afternoon I am off to collect our new caravan. Its a bit smaller than our old one but very nice inside compared to the old one. Perfect timing really as we are off to High Peak show this weekend. Ive spent the morning emptying the old one so our kitchen looks like a bomb went off in it but at least it gives us chance to have a sort out!
