Family Swimming

We have lots of swimming going on at the moment here. The dogs have been to hydro today, Heidi and Kody hadn't been for a month. Heidi worked really hard and Anne really pushed her. Brian absolutely loves his swimming and was his usual mental self. Kody seems to be getting more confident lately, Anne even commented today that he looked like he might actually be enjoying himself!

The dogs aren't the only ones swimming though, I am too. After I swam 5km last year for charity I was adamant I wasn't doing it again however I have been roped into an even bigger challenge...

...In less than 5 weeks time I will be taking part in a team sponsored swim, with our team swimming 140 miles in 12 hours to raise money for sport relief and as if thats not hard enough, the 12 hours are overnight! The distance is the same distance that David Walliams swam in the Thames last year.

We are looking for as many sponsors as we can so if you want to sponsor us you can do so online at:

Below is a video of Heidi training. She has been in season so hasn't been to club but we have been practicing things that Kody has been set up as he has been to both his and Heidi's club and workshop too. We are starting to work better together finally, lets just hope we can keep it up!

Snow Bother

It began snowing here just before 6pm last night. It was very windy and the snow was actually coming down sideways, next thing we know, the electric went off. It's not unusual for us to have power cuts here so I left it 10 mins then phoned the power supplier to find out when it was going to be back on. When I phoned nobody else had reported it, only us and it was only us with none in our area. We would have to wait for an engineer, that would take 3-4 hours!

Obviously the heating had gone off too. I had got my mum and dad visiting so we all ended up sat on the sofa in a line, a blanket and dog each on our knees to keep warm and watched a film on my iPad which happened to be fully charged. Me and dad ventured to the barn to get the camping stove and gas so we could have a brew and that warmed us up.

After almost 3 hours the engineers arrived and discovered that the power cables had twisted over themselves in the wind and then cut off. They had to get up in their extendable bucket thing to the lines to unwrap them and then put in a new fuse in the electric pole. By this time the snow had been coming down for a while and was quite deep. Thankfully it all got sorted, not like us to have an adventure though :)

Today we took the doggies out to play in the snow, they all went a bit mad and got very excited. The River Ancholme which is outside our house is frozen. Mum and Dad decided to leave after lunch in the hope they would get home before dark, we did have to push my dads car a bit and then I went ahead of them in our 4x4 to the main road to make sure they got there ok.  I don't think we are due any more thankfully, just need to wait for this lot to melt now!
